Do not book here! We stayed for two nights in Aug '13. We had booked and paid a month in advance through Expedia. On arrival the staff claimed the hotel was full and they never received the reservation/money from Expedia. They told us it was not their problem and that we should take it up with Expedia. We refused. They put us on the phone to someone who spoke slighter better English who told us the same lies. Eventually the person on the phone agreed to refund us the money in cash on the spot, but only offered us half of what we had paid. After more arguing they miraculously found a room. It was awful. The sheets were clean but that was about it. The carpet was filthy, the bathroom dirty, the room key did not work so each time we returned we had to find the maid to let us in, prostitutes pushed business cards under our door. The room was tiny and windowless. The initially lied that there was no wifi, despite the website advertising it, and when we did manage to connect the connection was pretty poor. I have stayed in many budget places in the world but this is by far the worst. The staff were rude, bold-faced liars. We changed to the Inner Mongolia Grand Hotel, which for AUD$50 more a night was pure luxury in comparison. You have been warned!

Chose hotel for its convenience and affordability. Chinese-style breakfast was not very good but great street cart and bakery less than one block away. TV in room was broken and had trouble communicating with front desk (very limited English!!). Most of the hotel guests were Chinese. Also note that bathroom is not Western style - I have never showered next to the toliet before, had to be very careful as bathroom floor was very slick after showering. I would recommend this hotel for Chinese-speaking students who have a very tight budget and don't mind living in hostel-like conditions. The room was very clean and the neighborhood was safe so we were comfortable staying at this hotel.

Very good location and OK budget rooms. Breakfast uneatable for westerners. Good value for an extended stay.

Yes, the hotel is indeed just 2-3 minutes away on foot from exit A of Dong Dan subway station (line 1). But you have to look carefully, lest you miss it, as the entrance is a few meters from the street itself. But it is only across the street from the Oriental Plaza Malls, and if you go though the malls, you will emerge onto Wangfujing Street on the other side. The hotel itself is pretty utilitarian and and straightforward. The reception know enough English, so common queries can be answered. They ask for a key deposit. The single room is small, but clean. The bathroom is also miniscule, and instead of a cabinet for your clothing, there are hangers and hooks on the wall. But if you're not into frills, it will do. The breakfast is only from 7-9 am, and is local fare. SO for those who need a Western breakfast, you will have to make do with toast and hard-boiled eggs. No coffee served, but the hot soya milk is heavenly during a cold winter morning. I just spent one night, as I was on a connecting flight via Beijing. The trip from the airport was rather easy - you take the Airport Express train, go down at Dongzhimen station, at the end of the line. Then you transfer to Line 2, get off 3 stops away at Jianguomen. Finally, you transfer to Line 1 and get down to Dong Dan, which is just 1 stop away. Total travel time is around 40 minutes, which can be faster and definitely cheaper than taking a cab. Head north on Dongdan North Street about 150 meters or so - the entrance to Zhong Ann Inn is on your right.

Good location and good value. Near shopping center, eating places, and pedestrian street mall. Very good location at only 1 minute by walk from the Dongdan subway station and close to the Forbidden City. Hotel staff should improve their English but i always find someone that is able to speak english. breakfast is too chinese but every morning i find toast marmalade milk and coffee.
